Mahasiswa S3 - PhD-Student: Process-integrated Characterizations with X-ray Methods at Nanolab@ANKA
Job description: Optimization of electronic and optoelectronic properties by the control and specific manipulation of structure and growth is one of the central topics of modern semiconductor nanostructure research. Work shall be aimed at observing the growth directly, i.e. in situ and in real time, and at understanding and manipulating the relevant processes. For this purpose, surface-sensitive X-ray scattering methods shall be applied to pursue with a high resolution the spatial and temporal development of structures in lateral and vertical direction and even in buried layers.
Within the framework of the dissertation, instrumental and methodological bases of such in-situ studies shall be developed and the performance of the in-situ methods shall be demonstrated for exemplary problems
Universität Karlsruhe (TH); ESRF Grenoble; Universität Würzburg
In line with the university’s policy of equal opportunities, applications from qualified women are particularly encouraged. Handicapped applicants will be preferred in case of the same qualification.
Qualification:
Completed university studies in physics, crystallography or a closely related subject with very good success;
Vivid interest in X-ray physics, solid-state physics and chemistry, and materials research;
Experience in programming languages (ideally C++ or IDL) and computing under Linux/UNIX;
Proficiency and communication skills in the English language.
Salary: Remuneration shall be based on the Tarifvertrag für den Öffentlichen Dienst (Collective Agreement for the Public Service Sector).
Institute/Department: Institut für Synchrotonstrahlung (ISS)
Contract duration: limited 3 years
Starting date: as soon as possible
Application up to: 13.08.2007
